How to Make Deviled Eggs

Follow these step-by-step instructions to make this delicious and healthy snack:

Place eggs into a medium pot and add just enough water to cover them. Set the pot over medium-high heat and bring the water to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes, then cover the pot and remove from heat. Let the eggs sit, covered, for 15 minutes.

While the eggs set, prepare an ice bath. After 15 minutes, carefully remove each egg and place them in the bowl of ice water for 5 minutes.

Tap the eggs on the countertop to break the shell, then remove the shells and set aside.

Slice the hard boiled eggs in half and carefully remove the yolks from the egg whites. Mash the yolks in a bowl until crumbly. Then add mayo, mustard, salt and pepper and stir until it creates a creamy egg yolk mixture.

Spoon the mixture into the egg white halves or add to a piping bag and pipe it in. Sprinkle with a bit of paprika and top with your favorite garnishes if desired. Serve and enjoy!

How to Store Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs will last for about two days when stored in the refrigerator. Store them in a single layer in an airtight container. I do not recommend freezing leftovers.

Toppings and Add-Ins

There are so many yummy things that you can mix into deviled eggs or add as a topping. I love my everything bagel deviled eggs, and that’s just one example of how easy it is to make these different flavors.

For an extra salty snack, cook bacon and then crumble it up to mix in or add as a topping. Crumbled bacon in a deviled egg is SO yum! Things like green onions and fresh chives add lovely flavor as a topping.

Some people like to add dill pickle relish into the egg yolk mixture. You can also make your deviled eggs spicy by using sriracha mayo instead of regular. Or, add more healthy fats to this yummy snack by mashing ripe avocado and mixing it into the yolks.

What to Serve with Deviled Eggs

While these are a wonderful appetizer all on their own, you can serve them alongside some tasty dishes. Instead of a hard boiled egg, serve a deviled egg in your chicken bacon caesar salad. You could even make a really quick breakfast with some keto waffles and a few deviled eggs.

I love to have deviled eggs at cook outs with homemade hamburgers too! They’d also be a really quick side dish to whip up with Greek yogurt chicken or any other easy dinner recipe.
