How to Make Air Fryer Potato Slices
Follow these simple steps to make these tasty air fryer potatoes:
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (204°C) for 5 minutes. If your air fryer model does not have a preheat function, then just turn it on for a few minutes while you prep the potatoes.
Slice the potatoes into thin slices and then place them into a large mixing bowl. Add the extra virgin oil to the bowl and toss until coated. Then add each of the seasonings and toss again.
Carefully brush the air fryer liner with olive oil and then add as many potato slices that will fit. You can overlap the edges, but keep them in a single layer as much as possible. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook these in batches.
Air fry potato slices at 400°F (204°C) for 8 minutes and then give the air fryer basket and good shake. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until all sliced potatoes and crispy and golden brown.
Repeat these steps with any remaining potato slices.
If desired, garnish with chopped parsley or sliced green onions. Then serve with your favorite dipping sauce! My kids like ketchup and special sauce, but my favorite might be homemade Chick-Fil-A sauce.
How to Store Leftover Potato Slices
Transfer leftover air fryer potato slices to an airtight container or plastic bag. Allow to cool completely before storing. Then refrigerate for up to 3-4 days. I do not recommend freezing leftovers since potatoes don’t typically thaw and reheat well.
What to Serve with Air Fryer Potato Slices
The possibilities are endless with a great side dish like this one. Serve this potato dish with main courses like Instant Pot pork chops, air fryer grilled chicken, or Instant Pot pork butt.
It’s a wonderful healthy alternative to french fries if you want something crispy and salty with your grilled chicken burgers. Don’t forget the dipping sauces! Ketchup, barbecue sauce and horseradish aioli are all delicious.
Serve with hearty protein packed meals like Greek yogurt marinated chicken or grilled chicken drumsticks too.
Tips for Success
For best results, check out these tips and tricks! Everyone wants the most perfect crispy potatoes:
- I recommend even slices that are about an ⅛” thick. However, if you’d like less crispy potatoes then you can use thicker slices. To get super thin slices, use a very sharp knife or a mandolin.
- If you have a smaller air fryer, you’ll need to cook the potatoes in batches. There needs to be enough space for hot air to circulate around the potatoes to cook them evenly.
- To keep batches warm as you air fryer the rest of the potatoes, place them on a plate or dish and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Place into the microwave or an oven that is not on to keep them warm.
FAQ
It is not necessary to soak the potatoes, but you can let them sit in a bowl of cold water for about a half hour before air frying if you’d like! This can help make the potatoes even more crispy.
If you end up with soggy potatoes, you likely overloaded the basket. It is important to keep the potatoes in a single layer across the bottom so that they cook evenly and get crispy!
