Whole30 Approved vs. Whole30 Compatible

Now you might have wondered, what’s the difference between Whole30 Approved and Whole30 compatible (also referred to as Whole30 compliant)? Well, you’re not alone! The terms are often used interchangeably, but they actually indicate different things!

  • Whole30 Approved: This means the product is made using Whole30 compatible ingredients and that the company and product itself has the seal of approval from the Whole30 team. The company has met the rigorous standards set by Whole30 HQ. You’ll usually see the Whole30 Approved label right on the packaging, making the job of finding items that work for you a whole lot easier!
  • Whole30 Compatible (or compliant). This term means that the product is in the spirit of the Whole30 program, and that the ingredients are all compatible. However, the product and/or company does not have the official seal of approval from Whole30 HQ. That could be for a variety of reasons, but you’ll need to do your own research into the company, its practices, and the products they make if that’s important to you.

Whole30 Sauces List

Important Note! Be sure to always check your ingredients labels, because brands and manufacturers can make changes at any given time.

❗Be careful of products labeled as “Sugar Free,” because it’s often an indicator that a sugar substitute (which would not be compatible) is used in place of refined sugar. Also be on the lookout for ingredients like soybean oil, maltodextrin, and honey, among others.

Okay, now let’s get going and see the full list of Whole30 compatible sauces to use as condiments in your favorite Whole30 recipes!

  1. Hello! Great list. Unfortunately, the Yai’s Thai Sauces Pad Thai sauce contains soy. I’m so disappointed, becuase I really want to be able to buy pad thai sauce instead of making my own. 🙁 Please update if you ever find one that’s compatible.

    1. Maggie, Wow, thank you for catching that! Another great example of why we need to read labels!! I believe this sauce used to be made with coconut aminos, but it is definitely not compatible as it stands today! Will remove it from the list right now. 🙂 -Laura
