I bet you’ll enjoy this recipe, even if you’re not a fan of brussels sprouts! Cooking brussels sprouts in the air fryer has made them one of my favorite vegetables:
- These mini cabbages are loaded with health benefits! This cruciferous vegetable is packed full of antioxidants, fiber, Vitamin C and Vitamin K.
- Make this side dish in just 20 minutes. If you need to whip something up quickly, then this is just the recipe for you!
- You only need five ingredients to make these crunchy, crispy veggies. Keep them all on hand and then you can throw together a great side dish whenever the need arises.
Ingredients
These simple ingredients are all that you need to make this delicious Keto friendly recipe:
- frozen brussels sprouts: I use an 11 ounce bag. If you purchase a larger bag, then you’ll need to adjust the amount of oil and seasoning used so that the veggies are coated well.
- olive oil: If you do not have extra virgin olive oil, then you can use avocado oil or another neutral flavored oil.
- kosher salt: Salt is key in making this veggie taste good. Make sure to use plenty, but don’t overdo it either!
- garlic powder: This is my secret ingredient in making the most flavorful air fryer frozen brussels sprouts. A little garlic powder makes these irresistibly tasty. You could also add some onion powder for even more flavor!
- cracked black pepper: A little bit of black pepper will bring some warmth and spice to this dish. If you’d like to make your veggies spicy, just toss in some cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.
How to Make Air Fryer Frozen Brussels Sprouts
Follow these step by step instructions to make this recipe in just 20 minutes time:
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (204°C) before cooking the veggies. If your air fryer does not have a preheat function, just turn it on for about 3 minutes.
Open the bag of frozen brussels sprouts and pour them into a large bowl. Add the olive oil, salt, garlic powder and pepper and toss to combine.
Place the seasoned veggies into the air fryer basket in a single layer.
Cook for 7 minutes, then shake the air fryer basket and cook for 5-7 more minutes or until the brussels sprouts are fork tender.
Serve warm and enjoy!
How to Store Leftover Brussels Sprouts
Place leftover brussels sprouts into an airtight container or a plastic zip top bag. Then store in the fridge for up to two days. To freeze, allow the veggies to cool completely and then transfer to a freezer bag. Squeeze out all of the air and then freeze them for up to 3 months. If you’d like to keep them from sticking together, then flash freeze on a baking sheet before transferring to a freezer bag.
What to Serve with Air Fryer Frozen Brussels Sprouts
For extra flavor, top the cooked brussels with ¼ cup of grated parmesan and serve with a drizzle of balsamic glaze. You can also toss them with buffalo sauce and serve with ranch for dipping. Add extra spice to this dish with a drizzle of chili oil and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onion.
No matter how you choose to serve the brussels sprouts, there are tons of main dishes that would pair wonderfully with them. Pan seared chilean sea bass, brown sugar pork chops, and air fryer chicken drumsticks are some of my favorites.
Or, you can let some slow cooker chicken thighs or Mississippi chicken cook all day and then throw together this quick side to serve with it. This is also a perfect side dish to serve with steak!
Tips for Success
Check out my tips and tricks so that these veggies always turn out crispy and flavorful:
- Feel free use any seasoning you like on these veggies. Ranch seasoning, bbq seasoning, or even chili lime seasoning — they’d all be tasty!
- If you have fresh brussel sprouts, you can still use them in this recipe. Just keep in mind that they’ll likely cook a little faster so keep an eye on them.
- Spray the air fryer basket with a nonstick cooking spray, like olive oil spray, to keep the veggies from sticking to the bottom.
