This perfect Air Fryer Filet Mignon makes date night or a special dinner at home a lot easier with the help of everyone’s favorite kitchen appliance. This steak is so succulent and juicy, it will taste like it’s from your favorite steakhouse, even though it’s made in the air fryer.
Air Fryer Filet Mignon Recipe
Date night at our house is almost always steak night. Special dinners call for something that takes a little more time and effort, right?
Well, with this air fryer filet mignon recipe, you won’t have to spend much time or effort. The air fryer takes away the hands-on time of flipping steaks over a grill or a skillet, and it is a glorious upgrade from these easy (but delicious) steak bites.
Instead, spend that time making a delectable herb butter that’s packed with flavor. When you add a pat to each hot steak before cooking it, it will melt into the crevices of the meat, bringing beautiful botanical flavor into every bite.
Why You’ll Love it
Cooking filet mignon in the air fryer is going to be your new go-to feels-fancy dinner.
- It’s so fast you could even make filet mignon on a weeknight!
- This recipe takes about 10 minutes of hands-on time and the air fryer does the rest!
- It makes enough for two servings — perfect for date night! But if you have a bigger air fryer you can make up to four at a time, making it the ultimate dinner party dish.

Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make perfect air fryer steaks:
- beef filet mignon steaks
- olive oil
- kosher salt
- black pepper
- salted butter
- fresh parsley
- garlic powder
Each steak should be around 6 ounces each. Depending on your air fryer, you could make slightly bigger ones, but you’d need to adjust the cook time to account for the size and thickness of the steak.
Instructions
Here’s how to make this easy filet mignon recipe right in your air fryer!
Let the filet mignon steaks rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Pat the steaks dry and place on a plate.
Coat both sides of the steak with a little olive oil. Season with salt and pepper and rub it all over the steaks. You want them to be generously seasoned!
Next, place the steaks in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 400°F (20°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway. Cook to your ideal temperature.
Use an instant-read thermometer to be sure the steaks have reached an internal temperature of 130°F (55°C) for medium rare at the thickest part of the steak. (Below, I have the adjust cook times for all the different doneness levels, so read on if you want a different cook on your steak!)
When the steaks are done cooking, top them with a pat of herb butter (make this while your steaks are cooking). If you don’t have herb butter, regular butter will do.
Let the steaks rest for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain. Then slice and serve with some delicious steakhouse sides like dairy-free mashed potatoes and bacon-wrapped asparagus. And don’t forget dessert — tiramisu pound cake is amazing.
Steak Herb Butter
Herb butter is a delightful addition that makes this the perfect air fryer steak. (Seriously, try it on other cuts like flank steak.)
Leave some salted butter on the counter for about 30 minutes before you plan to begin so it is nice and soft. (You can use unsalted butter — just add some salt to taste.)
While the steaks are cooking, combine the softened butter (but not melted), chopped parsley and garlic powder. Mix until thoroughly combined.
If you need to store this homemade garlic and herb butter for later, you can! Cover it or wrap it in plastic wrap and place it in the fridge. It will harden, but you can leave it at room temperature to soften it again.
Don’t want to make herb butter? Use regular butter. You can also top your steaks with blue cheese, brown mushroom gravy or horseradish.
Air Fryer Cook Times
Depending on how you like your steaks, cook them according to these times and temperatures:
- rare: 8-10 minutes or 120°F (49°C)
- medium rare: 10-12 minutes or 130°F (55°C)
- medium: 12-14 minutes or 140°F (60°C)
- medium well: 14-15 minutes or 150°F (66°C)

Per the USDA for food safety, it is recommended to cook steak to a minimum internal temperature of 145°F (62.8°C) before removing it from the air fryer. Always allow meat to rest for at least three minutes before you serve it or cut it for safety and quality.
Tips for Success
You can cook up to 4 filet mignon steaks in your air fryer at the same time depending on the space of your air fryer basket.
You don’t have to make the herb butter for the filet mignon, but it adds a delicious flavor to the steak once it comes out of the air fryer. It really makes this steak even more perfect for special occasions.

I think you have a mistake in the oven temperature. Surely you do not mean 20degrees C
Madison Wetherill says
You are so right! That is a typo 🙂 It should be 200ºC
