Soak the dates in warm water for about 5 minutes, until softened. Do not discard the water.
Add all ingredients (including the date water) to a food processor or blender. Blend on high until creamy.

Notes
To store leftovers: Transfer the mixture to an airtight container, and store in the refrigerator until you're ready to eat it. The sauce will keep for two weeks, unless the expiration of any of the ingredients used in the sauce comes before that.
