1teaspooncanned chipotles or substitute 1/8 tsp chipotle powder
1/4cupcompliant ketchup
Serve with
1headbibb or butter lettuce
1avocado
1teaspoonsfresh cilantro
Instructions
Do the Prep Work
Chop the garlic, onion, and bell peppers. Wash the lettuce leaves. Wait to cut the avocado until just before serving so it doesn't get brown.
Make the Turkey Burgers
Preheat oven to 375. As it preheats, in a medium bowl, mix together all ingredients with your hands. Chill in the fridge for about 15 minutes.
Form the mixture into 6-8 patties in your hands. Carefully lay each patty on a lined baking sheet and drizzle or spray lightly with olive oil.
Bake for about 12 minutes, flip, and cook for another 10 minutes.
Make the Chipotle Ketchup
While the burgers cook, mix together the chipotles and ketchup in a small bowl.
Assemble and Serve
Remove the burgers from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve with chipotle ketchup, sliced avocado, and lettuce wraps.
Notes
To cook in a skillet: Heat a few tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the burgers and cook for about 4 minutes per side, turning once carefully. I wouldn't recommend cooking these burgers on the grill as they can tend to break apart a bit when you flip them.
