🍴 Why this recipe works
This broccoli ranch slaw an ultra simple, go-to recipe, and it’s a fabulous side dish for backyard bbqs, parties, and get togethers! Best of all, it requires NO COOKING.
It actually eats a bit like a salad, which will convert even the most committed broccoli nay sayers in your life. So if your life needs a little crunch without a whole lot of effort, give this recipe a try!
I’ve learned to make ridiculously easy recipes that are completely Whole30 compatible, satisfying, and still super healthy, with the help of a few store bought goodies!
Yup, I routinely buy Whole30 compatible salad dressings, sauces, and frozen or pre-cut and packaged veggies.
Sure, I still eat out during Whole30, but more often than not, with the help of a few convenience items, I can throw together something wonderful pretty quickly. And this broccoli ranch slaw is one of those wonderful things!

🥦 Recipe Ingredients
I think every healthy salad needs something savory, something sweet, and something crunchy. And this broccoli ranch slaw has it all with only four simple ingredients you can get at any grocery store.
- Broccoli Slaw Mix. I get a broccoli slaw mix at Walmart, but you can easily substitute your own shredded broccoli stems, cabbage, or any other type of vegetable slaw mix that you like. Trader Joe’s and Costco both have bagged superfood slaws, which are a mix of broccoli, kale, and other veggies.
- Ranch. Use your favorite store-bought brand (I love Tessemae’s Avocado Ranch) or make your own homemade ranch.
- Pepitas or Sunflower Seeds. This adds a lovely nutty flavor and some extra crunch to the salad. I use whatever seeds I have on hand, or I substitute slivered almonds.
- Dried Cranberries. Dried cranberries often have sneaky sugar added to them, so be sure to check your ingredients label. Thrive Market makes Whole30 compatible dried cranberries that have been sweetened with 100% apple juice. Since cranberries are lower in carbs than many other fruits, this salad is already low-carb friendly. For a more Keto friendly slaw, simply omit the cranberries.
Optional Ingredients
- Diced Sugar Free Bacon
- Diced Apples

Making the Slaw
Stay with me, because things are about to get a little complicated. Don’t panic. And don’t get frustrated if you get a little confused as I walk you through this step by step, because this is a super difficult recipe to learn to make (I hope you can read my extreme sarcasm between the lines, hah!). Here’s how to make it:
- Put everything in a bowl.
- Mix it up.
- Serve it.
See what I mean? That’s really all it takes to make broccoli ranch slaw. It couldn’t be easier! In fact, it’s so easy it’s almost not a recipe at all… which might make me the worst food blogger ever… or maybe the best? It’s your call.
